Movie Theater Armrests, Cupholders, and 3D Glasses in 2026

TL;DR

• Between-showing turnover in most multiplexes is 15-25 minutes and does not include armrest disinfection.
• Reusable 3D glasses have been flagged repeatedly in consumer testing for microbial contamination.
• A UV-C session on your seat's armrests, cupholder rim, and 3D glasses works.

What's on the Surfaces

• Reusable 3D glasses have tested positive for Staph and rhinovirus in independent studies going back years.
• Cupholders collect spilled soda, popcorn butter, and hand residue.
